Inspired by the awakening of the citizens’ movement of 1989, the idea of a large, space-filling festival for all residents has developed into a permanent undertaking.

The Elbhangfest — on the slope
The Elbhangfest is picturesquely nestled on Dresden’s Elbe slope between the villages of Loschwitz and Pillnitz.

We are a non-profit association
A group of three dozen enthusiasts has been organising the Elbhangfest on a voluntary basis since 1991.

The Elbhangfest brand
Since 1990, great importance has been attached to a consistent and memorable visual image: The sunny yellow (HKS 5) and the “Elbhangfest arch” by architect Volker Berthold.
The logo is protected as a trademark. In the run-up to the festival, the Elbhangfest colours dominate Dresden’s cityscape: on city light posters, trams, car stickers, steamboats, on bridges and streets they point to the festival weekend.
